Choosing the right location is a key step in setting your business up for success. Whether you’re looking for a shopfront, office, warehouse, a shared space or planning to work from home, this page helps you explore options in the City of Stirling and understand what to check before you commit.

Choosing the right location

Before you commit

  • Make sure the site is suitable for the type of business you want to operate – different areas have different land-use rules, so your activity needs to align with zoning requirements

  • Use the City’s online mapping tool, IntraMaps/Stirling property maps, to confirm zoning, area and dimensions for a property

  • Also, weigh practical factors such as traffic and access, parking, environmental health and any planned future development in the area
  • If you’re unsure whether a site suits your plans, share them with the City before you commit – it’s much easier to adjust early than after you’ve signed.

Where possible, confirm your approvals before you sign a lease or make an offer – or make any offer “subject to Council approvals.” Commercial leases can be complex, so the SBDC recommends that you understand the lease terms and seek independent legal and financial advice before you sign.
