This page provides information about on-demand waste collections including skip bins, mattresses, white goods and e-waste. Learn how to request on-demand waste bins and how you can request for additional skip bins to your residential property.

The City replaced household bulk hard waste verge collections with a range of on-demand collections, allowing residents to dispose of these items year-round, at a time when it is needed.

Types of on-demand waste collections

  • A skip bin collection accepts general bulk hard waste, furniture, timber sports equipment and floor coverings
  • A mattress collection accepts mattresses and mattress bases
  • A white good collection accepts fridges and/or freezers, stoves, washing machines, dishwashers and clothes dryers
  • An e-waste collection accepts computers and/or laptops, desktop printers and televisions.

Skip bins

Skip bin FAQs

You can book and pay for an additional skip bin at a cost of $87.55 here.

Verge conditions required for a successful skip bin delivery

  • Where possible, skip bins will only be placed on the verge belonging to the booked address
  • Skip bins are 1.8 metres long, 1.22 metres high, and 1.55 metres wide and require sufficient room on the verge
  • Verges with paving or synthetic turf will require inspection prior to being booked.

Entitlements and timings

  • Residential properties can access this service once per financial year (1 July to 30 June)
  • Skip bins will be collected two business days after delivery
  • Delivery and collection timeframes are between 6.00am - 6.00pm from Monday to Friday, excluding some public holidays
  • Cancellation or rescheduling of a skip bin shall be received no less than 3 working days prior to the scheduled delivery date or the service may be forfeited.

The Hirers/Residents responsibilities

  • Over filling of the bin will require a second bin to be requested to dispose of the additional waste, at a cost of $87.55
  • Skip bins should not be filled any higher than the marked line on the bin and with no items sticking out the top of the bin
  • Only the accepted materials are placed in the bin and any not accepted materials must be removed prior to collection
  • Ensure you are aware of the correct and proper loading of the bin to reduce dust, and avoid debris or other material blowing or falling from the bin during transportation.

If any of the above conditions cannot be met, please book a verge inspection

Unfortunately, we are unable to reschedule or change existing bookings. However, residents can cancel an existing booking before making a new one. If booked within the agreed time frames, you will avoid forfeiting your entitlements.

Please note that changes must be made at least three working days before the scheduled delivery date to avoid service forfeiture.

If your skip bin was not collected on the scheduled day, please contact the Customer Contact Centre for more information.

We suggest breaking up your bulk hard waste to ensure they fit in the skip bin, or you can use your tip pass to dispose of the waste at the Recycling Centre Balcatta (RCB).

We recommend that residents have their items ready to load into the skip on delivery day. If illegal dumping occurs, please submit an illegal dumping report

During the delivery process, our skip bin driver may have encountered challenges that prevented direct placement on your property. These challenges could include blocked access or an unsuitable area near your property. In these situations, we may need to use a nearby area that is not directly on your property.

Yes, bookings for apartment complexes need to be booked by your strata manager. To arrange a collection for your complex, contact your strata manager or caretaker directly to find out if you have a scheduled booking or to request a new one.

Occasionally, skips may arrive full because of how our operations are structured. One truck delivers the skip, and a separate truck empties it. Sometimes, the skip comes directly from another location where it was previously used.

Please rest assured that if your skip arrives full, it will be emptied within a few hours after delivery. This process ensures efficient service and reduces delays for all customers.
